Summary of the contracting process

Rutland County Council has initiated an active procurement process for the provision of Green Waste Treatment services under reference RCC1675. The tender, led by Welland Procurement, seeks a contractor for the treatment and onward processing of green waste collected from households and recycling centres in Rutland. The procurement, valued at £780,000 gross, employs an open procedure. Prospective contractors must submit their tenders by 12th August 2026 via the ProContract portal. The service encompasses the handling of kerbside green waste and waste from the council's recycling centres, and it requires daily receipt and treatment, prioritising council delivery vehicles. The contract will commence on 1st April 2027 and could extend through 31st March 2030, with potential renewal based on performance.

This tender presents substantial opportunities for businesses involved in waste management, particularly those focusing on innovative environmental and operational solutions. Companies experienced in managing waste facility operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and providing value-added proposals for environmental efficiency stand well-positioned for this contract. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are encouraged to participate, as Rutland County Council welcomes proposals that can deliver social value and adapt to population-driven demand increases. By engaging in this contract, businesses can expand their footprint in the refuse and waste-related services sector in the UK, specifically within the Midlands region.
