Summary of the contracting process

UK Research & Innovation, through Innovate UK, procured investor engagement services for UK clean energy and climate technology companies. The delivery partner is responsible for curated, targeted activities that help companies access growth and later-stage private capital. The work is intended to improve the quality and effectiveness of engagement between companies, investors and wider ecosystem stakeholders, leading to credible follow-up, investment, commercial partnerships or deployment. The requirement covers preparation, quality control, follow-up activity, initiated deal flow and evidence of outcomes; it is not a programme of generic events. The service is classified as business and management consultancy. Delivery is across the United Kingdom, with UKRI as the public-sector buyer.

This procurement has reached the award stage, with Tech Nation Group Limited selected for the single lot. The award is pending, with a standstill period ending on 10 September 2026; the scheduled contract signature date is 11 September 2026. The award date is 28 August 2026. The award value is £1,283,730.65 excluding VAT (£1,540,476.78 including VAT). The initial contract period is 14 September 2026 to 13 September 2029, with an optional extension of up to 24 months, ending no later than 13 September 2031. It used an open competitive flexible procedure. Ten bids reached the final stage. Evaluation was 90% quality and 10% price, with a two-stage assessment including a presentation.

This award demonstrates established UKRI demand for specialist investor-engagement support focused on clean energy and climate technology. Relevant suppliers would need to connect scaling companies with suitable growth and later-stage private capital, understand investor and ecosystem stakeholder needs, and turn engagement into credible investment, commercial partnership or deployment opportunities. Strong capability in investor curation, preparation of companies and investors, quality assurance, structured follow-up and initiated deal flow would be important. Suppliers should also be able to evidence outcomes and investment pipelines rather than rely on general networking or event delivery. The competition attracted ten final-stage bids, including seven from SMEs, indicating that credible smaller consultancies can compete. UK-wide delivery capability and experience in business or management consultancy would support future competition for this requirement.
