Summary of the contracting process

The Cleveland Fire Authority is currently in the planning stage of a procurement process titled "Seat contamination covers - 20 appliances". The contract is focused on the fire protection equipment industry, specifically involving the installation of seat contamination covers for fire appliances. This procurement is expected to take place in Hartlepool, UK, with a planning milestone set for supplier engagement by 17th July 2026. The entire project duration is estimated to run from 1st September 2026 to 1st September 2028. The procurement exercise is part of a preliminary market engagement, without a firm commitment to proceed but aimed at understanding supplier capabilities.

This tender offers significant opportunities for companies specialising in fire protection equipment installations and innovations in safety systems for emergency services. The project provides a chance for suppliers to demonstrate their experience with similar successful implementations, particularly within Fire and Rescue services. Companies that manufacture or distribute specialised, non-porous seat covers designed to prevent toxic exposure and comply with 'Clean Cab' standards would find this tender especially fitting. Suppliers offering decontamination-capable and durable solutions, incorporating non-hazardous materials, could leverage this as an avenue for strategic partnerships and enhanced service portfolios in the public safety sector.

Notice Title

Seat contamination covers - 20 appliances

Notice Description

Cleveland Fire Brigade are currently soft market testing with a view of undertaking a procurement exercise for a supplier to provide and install seat contamination covers. Fire services required to have seat contamination covers often referred to as 'Clean Cab' Solutions. These seat covers are specialized, non-porous shields used on fire appliance seats. They prevent toxic soot, combustion particulates, and off-gassing from exposed PPE from absorbing into standard porous seat fabrics, significantly reducing the risk of dermal absorption and secondary cross-contamination. These seat covers should be wipe clean, have non-hazardous flame retardants and have decontamination capabilities. They should be able to with-stand frequent wipe downs.

Planning Information

The Brigade would like to understand more from suppliers that have knowledge and experience of delivering the service required. We would like to know if any suppliers have any successful implementations with Fire and Rescue services. Please contact mheum@clevelandfire.gov.uk if you are interested in a possible procurement opportunity. This is a pre procurement engagement only, seeking to understand supplier capability. This does not commit Cleveland Fire Brigade to any future procurement exercise.
