Summary of the contracting process

NHS Lanarkshire Health Board is procuring an integrated transport single-booking and scheduling service under the title Transport Hub and Services. The requirement covers telephone-answering, customer-service and call-centre functions, including receiving transport requests, arranging bookings and scheduling journeys through a single service. It is a services contract intended to support the Board’s transport operations. The work is associated with NHS Lanarkshire and its headquarters in Bothwell, Scotland. Suppliers should therefore be able to combine customer contact handling with transport coordination and scheduling. The requirement is described as one integrated service rather than separate packages, and the procurement is presented as a single lot. An enhanced 24/7 service may also be proposed alongside the core service where a supplier can provide it.

The process has reached tender: NHS Lanarkshire invited offers through an open procedure. The estimated value is £375,000 for one lot. The contract period is 1,080 days, with a possible 12-month renewal on up to two occasions. The amended tender deadline is 14 August 2026 at 12:00 noon; tenders are opened electronically at the same time. Bids must remain valid until 31 December 2026 at 23:59. Evaluation is based on price (40%) and quality: quality management (27%), technology and systems (18%), continuity of supply and risk mitigation (9%), environmental sustainability (3%) and Fair Work First (3%). Electronic submission is required, bids must be in English, variants are not allowed, and an enhanced 24/7 option may be priced.

This opportunity suits established contact-centre, telephone-answering and transport-dispatch providers able to deliver an integrated booking and scheduling operation. Suppliers should bring reliable customer-service processes, suitable booking and scheduling technology, and the operational capacity to manage transport enquiries and allocations as one service. The evaluation places substantial emphasis on quality management, systems capability, continuity of supply and mitigation of operational risks, so bidders should be ready to demonstrate robust procedures, resilient staffing and service continuity arrangements. Environmental sustainability and Fair Work First are also assessed. The requirement may suit organisations with experience supporting public-sector or healthcare transport services, although the published criteria focus on capability rather than naming a specific accreditation. Providers able to support an enhanced 24/7 service may have an additional route to meet the Board’s operational requirements.
