Summary of the contracting process

Tendring District Council is in the planning stage of a procurement process for the Jaywick Sands Highway and Public Realm Improvement Scheme, under the Community Regeneration Partnership Programme. This £3.2 million project, located in Clacton-on-Sea, UK, focuses on the reconstruction of Brooklands Road, a key transport route in Jaywick Sands, as well as improvements to public spaces and community assets. The work includes highway repair, drainage enhancement, and public realm upgrades. A Preliminary Market Engagement (PME) is currently underway, closing on 7th August 2026, for contractors interested in participating in this initiative. Prospective suppliers can access project details via the Open eSourcing platform, and the contracts are anticipated to commence from 1st December 2026.

This upcoming tender presents significant opportunities for civil engineering and public realm contractors, especially those with expertise in highway construction, coastal drainage management, and stakeholder engagement. Companies with experience handling projects on unadopted roads and in flood-risk areas will find this procurement particularly relevant. Participation in the market engagement phase will shape the Council's procurement strategy, although it does not guarantee future contract awards. Furthermore, businesses capable of innovative solutions and value engineering to enhance project delivery while offering social value are well-positioned to benefit from this scheme and support broader regeneration objectives within the district.
