Summary of the contracting process

Public Services Delivery Scotland (PSD Scotland), in collaboration with Screening Oversight and Assurance Scotland (SOAS), is currently in the planning stage for a national targeted lung cancer screening service. The service, aimed at current and former smokers aged 55-74, aligns with UK National Screening Committee recommendations. The contracting authority, located in Edinburgh, plans to engage the market through a preliminary virtual market engagement event via Microsoft Teams, with dates to be confirmed. Interested service providers must express interest by 7th August 2026. This process falls under the health services category and is not a formal call for competition at this stage.

The upcoming engagement presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in health services, particularly those experienced in call-recall systems, risk assessment, smoking cessation support, and CT scanning operations. Businesses capable of delivering innovative service models and patient pathways in the realm of lung cancer screening can greatly benefit. By engaging with PSD Scotland, companies can influence the future procurement plan and position themselves for potential future competition. This opportunity is well-suited for established health service providers that have experience in similar national health initiatives.
