Summary of the contracting process

Kings Langley School, located in Kings Langley, UK, is seeking tenders for a solar carport design and build project. The procurement process is being managed by Cohesion Consulting Ltd. This open tender process invites bids from contractors to design, supply, install, and commission a solar photovoltaic (PV) carport system. The invitation to tender closes on 17th September 2026 at 1pm, and the project is expected to be completed by the end of August 2027. The procurement falls under the 'works' category, specifically solar installations and educational construction work, with an estimated contract value of £300,000, excluding VAT.

This tender represents a significant opportunity for qualified EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) contractors who specialise in solar installations. Businesses capable of providing comprehensive solutions that include detailed design, statutory approvals, and commissioning services are well-positioned to benefit. The project focuses on reducing electricity consumption and carbon emissions, requiring a tender that can ensure minimal disruption through a high-quality installation. With a substantial portion of the evaluation criteria focusing on technical solutions and compliance (50%), businesses that offer innovative and compliant solar solutions will find this tender advantageous. The contract also demands robust manufacturer and workmanship warranties, emphasising long-term reliability, thus catering to businesses with strong aftercare and warranty programmes.
