National Grid Electricity Transmission plc is seeking a comprehensive component support and lifecycle management service for its Bell 429 helicopter fleet. The programme is designed around flight hours, with a fixed hourly charge, to support aircraft availability and airworthiness, reduce the risks of owning components and make maintenance expenditure predictable. The estimated award decision date is 15 December 2026. The contract is scheduled to run from 1 January 2027 to 31 December 2030, with an option to extend services to 31 December 2034. The estimated value is £2 million gross. This is one lot. Evaluation weights the technical submission at 65% and the commercial submission at 35%. Tenders may be subject to negotiation, dialogue or further tender rounds as part of the procedure.

This opportunity is suited to helicopter original equipment manufacturers and authorised support providers with the capability to manage component support across an operational Bell 429 fleet. Suppliers need to demonstrate relevant technical ability and experience, competent resources, appropriate systems and organisational capacity to deliver ongoing lifecycle support and help maintain airworthiness and aircraft availability. They must meet National Grid’s applicable standard supplier requirements and the project-specific technical requirements, as well as show adequate financial standing and the ability to satisfy relevant legal, statutory and regulatory obligations. The buyer’s requirements make this a fit for suppliers able to offer flight-hour-based support and predictable charging, rather than only ad hoc maintenance. Equivalent qualifications, accreditations or standards are permitted where references are made to particular ones.
