Peterborough City Council intends to procure sensory support services for adults aged 18 and over living with hearing or visual impairments in Peterborough. The estimated value is £238,810 excluding VAT, or £286,572 including VAT. It is a below-threshold light-touch services procurement. No supplier selection or preference is implied by the market engagement.

This will suit organisations delivering specialist support to adults who are deaf, hard of hearing, blind or partially sighted, including charities, voluntary and community organisations, social enterprises and specialist care or advice providers. Relevant capability is likely to include accessible information and advice, welfare support, emotional support, mobility and orientation training, assistive technology demonstrations, and referral networks with specialist sensory services. Providers should be able to support independence and wellbeing and work with people across both hearing and visual impairment services. The council has indicated that the service may be suitable for small and medium-sized enterprises and voluntary, community and social enterprises. Peterborough City Council currently provides two individual separate services that support people who are living with either a hearing impairment or a visual impairment. The aim of each service is to enhance the quality of life and promote health, wellbeing an independence for those aged 18+ who are living with a sensory impairment. Peterborough City Council have commissioned sensory services since 2007. The current provision of support includes (but is not limited to) information and advice, emotional support, welfare advice and guidance and demonstration on accessing technology. The Sensory Services Team at the local authority provides support including mobility and orientation training, referrals to specialist sensory providers and access to assistive technology.

Planning Information

This is a Preliminary Market Engagement Opportunity to understand the current market and pricing structures. Responses will be reviewed and follow up clarification questions may be asked to ensure the Authority can make an informed decision on the future of the Sensory Support Services within Peterborough. No supplier selection or supplier preference is implied.
