Summary of the contracting process

Eastern Multi-Academy Trust is procuring fixed electricity and natural gas supply for a multi-site portfolio across the United Kingdom. The requirement is divided between REGO-backed electricity and fixed natural gas, supporting sites with varied consumption profiles. The supplier will be expected to provide the energy products, manage customer accounts, maintain accurate billing and support the Trust’s operational and environmental objectives. The contract may accommodate additional sites during its term. Ginger Energy Limited is managing the procurement on behalf of the Trust. This is a goods opportunity for licensed energy suppliers and businesses able to serve a dispersed, multi-site public-sector customer with reliable supply and responsive account management.

The procurement has reached tender: the buyer invited offers through an open procedure. The deadline for enquiries was 18 August 2026 at 16:00, and the tender submission deadline was 25 August 2026 at 16:00. The intended award decision date is 24 September 2026. The contract is scheduled to run from 1 October 2026 to 30 September 2029, with an extension option allowing a maximum end date of 30 September 2030. The estimated total value is £2,500,000 excluding VAT (£3,000,000 including VAT). The electricity lot is estimated at £1,666,666.67 excluding VAT, and the gas lot at £833,333.33 excluding VAT. Price accounts for 40% of evaluation, service and operations 30%, and product and operational processes 30%.

This opportunity suits energy suppliers registered with Ofgem and holding a valid GB Supply Licence. Bidders need the capacity to support a multi-site portfolio with varied consumption profiles and to offer fixed-price supply with clear unit rates, standing charges and other fees. Strong candidates will be able to demonstrate reliable and scalable operational processes, responsive account management, accurate and auditable billing, and effective handling of sites added during the contract. The requirement also favours suppliers with a proactive approach to energy-market risk management and sustainability, supported by clear evidence of regulatory compliance and value for money.
