Summary of the contracting process

NHS North East and North Cumbria Integrated Care Board is undertaking a planning stage for the "NENC107 - Waiting Well Programme," a service in the health sector aimed at improving surgical readiness and reducing health inequalities. The contracting process is classified under health services and is relevant to the UKC region, with the main procurement category being services. The procurement initiative is currently in the planning phase with a Request for Information (RFI) which closes on 14th August 2026 at 5 PM. The RFI is conducted via the Atamis portal, and potential suppliers can freely register and submit their responses. Future notices regarding this programme are expected around April 2027. This programme is aligned with the Healthier Lives, Fairer Outcomes Programme and targets individuals on elective surgery waiting lists.

This tender provides a significant opportunity for businesses specialising in healthcare services, particularly those with expertise in health and wellbeing interventions and social prescribing services. The focus on improving patient readiness for surgery and addressing health disparities makes it ideal for organisations that can provide integrated care and optimise comorbid conditions. Businesses that can deliver person-centred support and demonstrate an understanding of mental wellbeing, surgical efficiency, and work readiness are well-positioned to benefit from this procurement process, potentially paving the way for further contracts or partnerships with NHS entities in the UKC region.
