Summary of the contracting process

Norfolk County Council is actively engaged in the procurement process for the commissioning of Level 2 Sexual Health Services in the Breckland and South Norfolk areas. This service focuses on medical practice services, specifically the testing and treatment of symptomatic but uncomplicated sexually transmitted infections (STIs), to improve access to sexual health services within these regions. The tender, currently in the active stage, is being managed electronically via the council's e-procurement system. Interested participants must submit their bids by 1st December 2026, with an award period commencing shortly thereafter on the same day. The procurement is conducted as an open procedure, not limited by the number of providers, under the Direct Award Process B of the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023.

This procurement represents a significant opportunity for businesses specialising in healthcare services, particularly those with experience in sexual health and STI management, to expand their reach within the South Norfolk/Breckland locality. Providers capable of delivering robust clinical governance, workforce capacity, and integration with existing health pathways are well-suited for this project. The contract, worth approximately £414,000 over four years, is expected to operate on an activity-based payment model, allowing for scalable services based on demand. This favourable structure and the focus on addressing localised sexual health needs mean that businesses with appropriate clinical capabilities and a strategic presence in these geographical areas can leverage this opportunity for growth and increased community impact.
