Summary of the contracting process

Shropshire Council is exploring the commissioning of DWP Skills Bootcamp delivery across a range of priority sectors. The services are adult vocational and sector-specific training, designed to help residents develop skills in demand from employers, move into employment, or progress in their current roles. Delivery is intended to support local employers facing skills shortages and will be developed in partnership with employers to reflect workforce needs. One lot is currently envisaged, with an indicative contract period from 1 April 2027 to 31 March 2028. The Council expects the next notice to be published by 17 December 2026. Providers are asked to complete a market-engagement questionnaire by 31 August 2026; this is an engagement response date, not a tender deadline.

The work is likely to suit established adult-learning, vocational-training and employability providers that can deliver flexible, sector-specific Skills Bootcamps and tailor provision to employer demand. Strong candidates will be able to demonstrate relevant training delivery, effective engagement with local employers, and the operational capacity to support residents into employment or progression within their current roles. Providers should be prepared to explain their delivery models, available capacity and appetite for the planned commissioning.
