Bolsover District Council is planning shopfront improvement works in Bolsover Town Centre, a designated Conservation Area. The Council expects to hold 90-minute engagement appointments on 29 September and 1 October 2026 at 8 Cotton Street, Bolsover, with registration expected by 12:00 on 28 September for the first date or 12:00 on 30 September for the second. The sessions are intended to explain the scheme, discuss capacity and delivery options, gather market feedback and include a guided town-centre tour. The Council expects a subsequent notice on 19 October 2026. The anticipated contract period is 1 February 2027 to 31 March 2028, with delivery in phases. The estimated works value is £900,000 excluding VAT and £1,080,000 including VAT. There is one planned lot.

This will suit construction contractors with proven conservation and heritage experience, particularly firms able to work on Grade II Listed Buildings and within designated conservation areas. Relevant capability includes using traditional building materials and construction techniques, delivering specialist joinery, restoring historic shopfronts and improving commercial properties to a high standard. The Council is also looking for suppliers able to collaborate constructively with local authorities, conservation officers, architects, property stakeholders and other interested parties. Contractors should be ready to discuss their capacity, capability, market interest and practical options for phased delivery. The planned lot is identified as suitable for small and medium-sized enterprises and voluntary, community or social enterprises, so appropriately experienced smaller specialists and mission-led organisations may be well placed to prepare for the later procurement.

Bolsover District Council invites suitably qualified and experienced contractors to attend a Preliminary Market Engagement (PME) Event for the Bolsover Town Centre Shopfront Improvement Scheme. The proposed scheme involves the repair, restoration, replacement and enhancement of shopfronts within Bolsover Town Centre, which is a designated Conservation Area. The works will include interventions to a number of Grade II Listed Buildings and will form part of the wider Bolsover Regeneration Programme, funded by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG). The total funding allocation for the scheme is PS1,000,000, with approximately PS900,000 allocated to the shopfront improvement works. This event is being held solely for market engagement purposes and is not part of a formal procurement process. Attendance or participation will not provide any advantage or disadvantage in any future procurement exercise associated with the scheme.
