Summary of the contracting process

NHS Greater Manchester Integrated Care Board is commissioning a Tier 3 community dermatology service across the Greater Manchester conurbation. The service will provide timely advice, assessment, diagnosis and treatment for patients who need access to dermatology care, with delivery closer to patients’ homes. It is intended to be local, effective, integrated and patient-centred, addressing community healthcare needs within Greater Manchester. This is a healthcare services requirement, specifically dermatology services (CPV 85121282). The successful provider will work within the Greater Manchester health system and support the strategic aim of improving the quality and accessibility of care in community settings. The procurement covers the complete service requirement rather than separate service areas, and is being commissioned by the Integrated Care Board.

The procurement reached tender: the buyer invited offers through a competitive Provider Selection Regime process using an open procedure, with electronic submission in English. The tender deadline was 23 October 2026 at 12:00; bids were scheduled to open at 13:00 the same day, with evaluation commencing then. The initial contract term is three years, expected to start on 1 April 2027, with an option to extend by up to two further years, giving a maximum five-year term. The estimated value is £26,975,375.25 for the initial term, £17,983,583.50 for the extension and £44,958,958.75 at maximum overall. Bids must remain valid for 270 days. Selection covers supplier suitability and economic capacity, assessed through the Basic Selection Questionnaire.

This opportunity suits established dermatology providers able to deliver a complete Tier 3 community service across Greater Manchester. Competitors will need the clinical capability to provide timely specialist advice, patient assessment, diagnosis and treatment in a community-based setting, while integrating effectively with the wider local health system. The requirement is likely to suit organisations with suitably qualified dermatology clinicians, robust referral and care pathways, and the operational capacity to serve patients across the conurbation. Providers should be able to demonstrate organisational suitability and economic standing through the Basic Selection Questionnaire. The service also favours suppliers experienced in patient-centred delivery, coordination with NHS services and bringing care closer to patients’ homes. The scale requires a provider able to sustain delivery over a multi-year arrangement and any extension period.
