Summary of the contracting process

Historic England is commissioning research into air and vapour control layers (AVCLs) retrospectively installed in English buildings of traditional construction. The work will examine a selection of building case studies and report on the findings, including positive and negative consequences of the installations. Its purpose is to improve knowledge and inform future guidance on the suitability of fitting modern technologies into traditionally constructed buildings, following an earlier literature review.
