Islington Council is exploring the future of its care home services in Islington, as existing block contracts approach expiry. The estimated value is £112,000,000 excluding VAT, or £140,000,000 including VAT. The council intends to seek market views through a survey after the session and may arrange workshops or meetings before deciding its procurement approach.

This engagement will suit care home operators, health and social care providers, voluntary and community organisations, and partners able to offer innovative models for commissioning and delivering residential care. Providers with experience managing care homes, supporting residents safely and effectively, and working with councils on long-term service delivery should be well placed to contribute. The council is specifically seeking views on its evolving vision, strategic objectives, innovative service models and approaches to service delivery, so organisations with evidence of redesign, collaboration, quality improvement or alternative operating models may find the discussion relevant. Suppliers can use the engagement to understand the council’s direction, explain what models are workable, and help shape later requirements before a formal competition is considered.

This Notice is for information purposes only and is not a formal invitation to tender. Its aim is to enhance transparency and competition. All details provided here may be updated or changed in any tender notices. The Authority reserves the right to cancel, postpone, suspend or abort its procurements at any stage. The issue of this notice in no way commits the Authority to commence a procurement process. The Council would like to invite suppliers to an information and engagement session on 8 October from 11:30-1pm. During this event, commissioners will share the Council’s evolving vision and strategic objectives for its care home services, outline how we have engaged the market to date, and share information on next steps. This engagement session will aim to provide the necessary contextual information to facilitate future workshops or sessions with the market focused on innovation and service delivery models. The session will be held virtually on Microsoft Teams. Following the session, interested suppliers will be able to complete a survey to provide their views on innovative service models.
