Summary of the contracting process

University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust procured outsourced radiology reporting, also known as teleradiology, covering routine, elective and emergency imaging services. The three contracts were signed on 14 September 2026 and are scheduled to start on 1 December 2026, each for three years with five 12-month extension options. The process used a limited competitive framework procedure without prior publication of a call for competition. Evaluation weighted quality at 40% and cost at 60%. Ten bids were received for Lots 1 and 2, and nine for Lot 3.

This award demonstrates substantial, recurring demand from a major NHS trust for outsourced radiology reporting across urgent, rapid-turnaround, routine and subspecialist work. A credible future competitor would need the clinical capability and operational capacity to deliver remote reporting reliably across these distinct service levels, including out-of-hours and emergency demand. Procurement Information

This is a Provider Selection Regime (PSR) intention to award notice. The awarding of this contract is subject to the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023. For the avoidance of doubt, the provisions of the Public Contracts Regulations 2015 do not apply to this award. The standstill period begins on the day after the publication of this notice. Representations by providers must be made to the relevant authority by 25th September 2026. Representations can only be made by providers party to the framework agreement. This contract has not yet formally been awarded; this notice serves as an intention to award under the PSR.
