Notice Description
The Contracting Authority intends to undertake Early Market Engagement activities in relation to a number of forthcoming rail engineering and rolling stock maintenance opportunities. These activities will enable the Authority to engage with the market, understand supplier capabilities, gather feedback on proposed delivery models, and inform future procurement strategies. The engagement may cover rolling stock maintenance, engineering support services, component overhaul and repair, depot services, asset management, fleet modifications, and associated rail engineering requirements. Participation in the engagement does not constitute a formal procurement process and will not confer any advantage in any future competition.
Planning Information
The Contracting GWR intends to undertake Early Market Engagement activities in relation to a number of forthcoming rail engineering, rolling stock maintenance and associated support opportunities. The purpose of this engagement is to develop a better understanding of current market capability, capacity, supplier expertise, emerging technologies and potential delivery models prior to the commencement of any formal procurement activity. The engagement will assist the GWR in refining its requirements, assessing available solutions, informing procurement strategies, identifying opportunities for innovation and ensuring future tender opportunities are structured to maximise competition, value for money and operational resilience. The engagement may cover a broad range of products, services and solutions, including, but not limited to: - Rolling stock maintenance, servicing and overhaul. - HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) systems and associated components. - Traction, electrical and power system maintenance. - Brake systems, wheelsets, bogies and suspension components. - Passenger doors, accessibility equipment and passenger information systems. - Mechanical, electrical and electronic components and assemblies. - Spare parts, consumables and materials supply. - Component repair, overhaul and refurbishment services. - Fleet modifications, upgrades and life-extension programmes. - Condition monitoring, diagnostics and predictive maintenance solutions. - Engineering support, technical consultancy and assurance services. - Reliability, availability and asset management services. - Depot maintenance, equipment and facilities support. - Testing, inspection, certification and engineering validation services. - Inventory management, warehousing and logistics support. - Interior refurbishment and passenger environment improvements. - Sustainability, decarbonisation and energy-efficiency solutions. - Digital technologies, software solutions, data analytics and remote monitoring services. GWR is seeking feedback from suppliers to better understand available products, services and market developments, and to help shape upcoming procurement approaches and tender requirements. The scope of this engagement is indicative only and may be amended, expanded or refined as requirements develop. Participation in this engagement does not constitute a formal procurement process, does not guarantee the commencement of any future procurement activity, and will not confer any advantage or disadvantage in any subsequent procurement or competition.
