Summary of the contracting process

The London Borough of Bromley, jointly with the Southeast London Integrated Commissioning Board, plans to recommission a community-based dementia post-diagnosis support service, known as the Dementia Hub. It will support people diagnosed with dementia, their carers and the professionals working with them, providing a pathway from diagnosis until people become eligible for statutory services. The service is intended to improve health and wellbeing and reduce or delay the need for more costly or intensive support. This is health and social care work delivered in Bromley, in south-east London.

The process is at planning: the council has stated its intention to tender for a new service contract, but has not yet invited bids. It expects the contract to start on 1 July 2027, run for five years, and include an option to extend by up to two years. The estimated value is £3.43 million excluding VAT (£4.116 million including VAT). One lot is planned. The council and commissioning board scheduled a provider engagement event for 2 November 2026, from 10.30 to 11.30am, via Microsoft Teams, to explain their commissioning approach and help shape the service model. They expected the next notice on 9 November 2026.

This planned service is particularly relevant to providers of community dementia support, health services or social care, including small and medium-sized businesses and voluntary, community and social enterprises, which are identified as suitable. Suppliers should be prepared to support people with a dementia diagnosis and their carers, and to work with the professionals involved in their care. The service needs to bridge the period from diagnosis to eligibility for statutory services, with a focus on wellbeing and preventing or delaying more intensive support. Providers with experience designing or delivering joined-up community support across this pathway are likely to be well placed to contribute to the engagement and prepare for the later tender. The buyer is seeking provider input to shape the service delivery model.
