This notice confirms TfL's award of a contract for the manufacture and Supply of 500 pcs Flat Bottom Rail 60E2 R350LHT according to EN13674-1:2017, Length 18,288 mm for Elizabeth Line through a Direct Award. This contract has already been awarded to the only Supplier after a failed competitive ITQ exercise.

Procurement Information

Voestalpine Rail GmbH are the only suppliers capable of manufacturing and supplying the required Rail grade of 60E2 350LHT in the required quantities at the required time. Invitation to quote was sent out to 3 suppliers, namely British Steel, Voestalpine GmbH and Saarstahl Rail: British Steel no longer produce this type of Rail. They currently produce the 60E2 in premium Rail (HP350) but not in 350LHT specifically required by Elizabeth Line - COS Saarstahl can produce the 60E2 350LHT grade but would require a minimum order quantity (MOQ) of 1000 to 1500 to 'mount a production campaign' in their mill. They currently produce the 60E2 in R260 grade, and 60E1 in 350LHT. These are not suitable for the end-user - Elizabeth line - requirements.
