Marine Treasures, Natur am Byth: Pink Sea Fan Project Pembrokeshire
Notice Description
This invitation to quote covers a contract to review population recovery options for the Pink Sea Fan (PSF) in Wales, with a focus around the Skomer Marine Conservation Zone (MCZ), identifying key organisations and individuals to deliver this recovery and helping to lead a workshop to determine suitable ways forward.The work has been split into separate work packages to facilitate quoting. Please itemise your quote for each work package.Work packages1. Review of PSF restoration techniques and potential, including factors influencing successA desktop study collating current information on techniques suitable for PSF restoration and recovery in Wales. These should particularly include possible management options for natural recovery as well as more active restoration techniques. Case studies of where and how these interventions have worked should be included. The PSFs in Pembrokeshire are currently known to be the most northerly in Wales. PSF research within the Skomer Marine Conservation Zone has looked at growth, spawning, sex ratios and genetic connectivity. Consideration should be given to known information regarding factors that could impact PSF restoration including disease and impacts. Impacts may be natural (e.g. shark egg entanglement) or anthropogenic (e.g. commercial and recreational activities that interact with the seabed).2. Identify key organisations or individuals that would be suitable to deliver the restoration and / or recovery of PSF in the project areaWorking with the Pembrokeshire Regional Coordinator, identify the organisations and or individuals who would be best placed to deliver (or contribute to) the recovery and / or restoration techniques identified in work package 1.3. Help lead a workshops with stakeholdersAttend and help to lead discussion in a virtual workshop with stakeholders identified in work package 2. The workshop will be used to highlight outputs of the review (work package 1) and determine how best to proceed with restoration and / or recovery options developed with the stakeholders. It will also provide an opportunity to identify any existing engagement material for use in the delivery phase. Facilitation will be provided by the Pembrokeshire Regional Coordinator.4. Workshop report and outline restoration and / or recovery approach for PSFProvide the results of the workshop in a report with a strategy of how to proceed with restoration and / or recovery of PSF, including management options.Deliverables:1. Report covering work package 1 as detailed above.2. A comprehensive list of key organisations or individuals that would be suitable for delivering /contributing to restoration and / or recovery of PSF in the project area.3. Contribute to delivering a stakeholder workshop and complete a workshop report to include a restoration / recovery strategy.
