Summary of the contracting process

NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership is set to award a three-year contract for the provision of planned, emergency, and end-of-life palliative respite for children with life-limiting conditions. The procurement process is currently in the Award stage, with the successful supplier being Ty Hafan. The total contract value is approximately £895,381.20. This opportunity is located in Cardiff, UK, and was announced on 17 March 2022. The procurement method used is a limited award procedure without prior publication of a call for competition, necessitated by the unique care requirements of children needing specialist palliative support.

This tender offers significant opportunities for businesses involved in healthcare services, particularly those specialising in paediatric palliative care, hospice services, and family support. Companies that are capable of delivering tailored care services within the community and home settings will find this contract particularly relevant. Given the specific focus on children’s palliative care, organisations with prior experience in similar contexts or partnerships with established care providers like Ty Hafan may be well-suited to compete for future opportunities stemming from this procurement process.
