Notice Description

The NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership, hosted by Velindre NHS Trust are acting on behalf of Cardiff and Vale University Local Health Board who are sought to award a contract for the provision of Support Workers to provide Therapeutic Activities.There are a significant number of patients in hospital who have been assessed as 'ready for transfer' and are awaiting placement in a care home or a complex package of care in their own home. These patients have a number of co-morbidities including cognitively impaired.The awarded bidder will provide meaningful activities and some basic care to approach caring for people with Cognitive Impairments with dignity and respect supporting the Health Board's response to the Dementia Intelligent Target for General Hospital Care.The support workers will;- develop a person centred relationship with patients- offer activities tailored specifically for the patient through the provision of activities and spending time with patients who have a Cognitive Impairment of the mind or brain- use evidence-based approaches e.g. Validation, Creative Activity, Reality Orientation, Socialisation, and Physical Exercise- be proactive in promoting emotional wellbeing- promote a positive experience when staying on the ward for all patients, friends and staff
