CARDIFF UNIVERSITY

This public procurement record has 1 release in its history.

Summary of the contracting process

Cardiff University has successfully completed the procurement process for the acquisition of two mobile particle counters required for its cleanroom facility dedicated to semiconductor device fabrication. The procurement falls under the goods category, specifically for airborne particle monitoring. The contract was awarded on 29th March 2022, following a tender process which saw a single bid submitted. The local authority is based in Cardiff, UK, and the aim of this project is to implement an effective air quality measurement system that ensures the cleanliness standards of the cleanroom are met.

This opportunity presents significant potential for suppliers in the field of cleanroom technologies and monitoring equipment. Businesses that specialise in airborne particle monitoring or related environmental measurement solutions would be particularly well-positioned to compete in future tenders from Cardiff University or similar institutions. Engaging with such procurement processes can foster growth and expansion for companies looking to establish or enhance their presence in the market for high-tech scientific equipment and services.

Notice Title

Particle Counters

Notice Description

The TRH ICS cleanroom is a state of the art facility for semiconductor device fabrication, typically working with devices on the scale of microns and with features nanometre in size. The cleanroom has been designed to control particulate contamination however no infrastructure fixed system of measuring the air quality was included within the build, for reasons of economy. Without any means of particle measurement it will be impossible to know whether the cleanroom is operating to the level of air quality cleanliness required, and so effectively there is no control. The requirement is therefore for two mobile particle counters to measure the air quality across the cleanroom on a regular basis and, via sampling data and generated reports, provide evidence to ICS customers that the cleanroom is fit for purpose from a particulate contamination perspective.
