Summary of the contracting process

The NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership, hosted by Velindre University NHS Trust, is conducting an open tender for the provision of OSCE training for overseas nurses commencing employment in Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB). This contract is crucial as BCUHB aims to recruit 30 overseas nurses through an all-Wales recruitment drive, starting May 2022, with recruitment scheduled to culminate by Quarter 2 of 2023-24. The tender submission deadline is set for 1st July 2022, with the award period concluding on 18th July 2022. The procurement process takes place in Port Talbot, with health services categorised under the relevant CPV code.

This tender presents significant opportunities for organisations providing training services, particularly those specialising in nursing and midwifery education. Firms with expertise in preparing overseas candidates for the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) standards and the test of competence (ToC) will be particularly well-suited to compete. The capacity to cater to the diverse needs of nursing specialties—especially in ensuring that candidates are fully prepared for employment in the UK—will enhance competitiveness in this procurement process.
