Summary of the contracting process

NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership-Procurement Services, hosted by Velindre University NHS Trust on behalf of Public Health Wales, is initiating a procurement process for a national "Target Lung Cancer Screening" programme. This project falls under the health industry category and is currently in the planning stage. An engagement event is scheduled to take place virtually via Microsoft Teams over two days, on the 5th and 12th September 2024, to discuss potential solutions for this service. Interested businesses should express their interest by 19th August 2024 and confirm their preferred session date and proposal area. The programme aims to gather input on IT systems, mobile CT scanners, and end-to-end service offerings, with a preliminary market engagement event scheduled to provide further details. The event's purpose is to determine the best pathway/service model, not a call for competition.

This tender represents a significant opportunity for businesses specialising in medical IT solutions, diagnostic imaging, and comprehensive healthcare services to contribute to a national project aimed at early lung cancer detection. Companies providing mobile CT scanning, AI-driven diagnostic tools, or end-to-end patient services are particularly well-suited to participate. Engaging in this process allows businesses to showcase their capabilities and potentially shape the future structure of the national screening programme, paving the way for future procurement opportunities and long-term collaboration with NHS Wales.
