Summary of the contracting process

Cyngor Sir Ceredigion County Council, together with several other Welsh Public Sector organisations, has established the "All Wales Sustainable Catering Packaging Framework". This framework aims to appoint suitably qualified and competent suppliers for the supply and delivery of sustainable catering packaging products. The framework is part of a collaborative effort to support the goals of the Wellbeing and Future Generations Act. Notably, the procurement process has progressed to the award stage, with contracts signed on 16 December 2024. The framework is split into three lots, each targeting different types of product requirements, and was executed through an open procurement procedure. Deliveries will occur across Wales, targeting organisations aiming for sustainability in their operations.

This tender presents significant growth opportunities for businesses that can supply sustainable catering packaging products. Suppliers chosen for this framework, such as Bunzl Catering Supplies and SIMPLELIFECO UK LTD, can expand their market reach within the Welsh public sector. It is particularly beneficial for businesses focused on sustainability and innovation, as the framework emphasises meeting the objectives outlined in the Wellbeing of Future Generations Act. Companies adept at trading electronically and offering sustainable product ranges, including bespoke solutions, are well-suited to compete for such tenders.
