Summary of the contracting process

The NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership-Procurement Services, hosted by Velindre University NHS Trust, has issued an open tender to refresh its all-Wales framework for services provided to Adults (18+) in Mental Health & Learning Disabilities Care Homes, including settings with nursing. This procurement process, in collaboration with various Welsh Local Health Boards and Local Authorities, involves nine distinct Lots covering different care settings, and is slated to end by 31 March 2026, with the option to extend already utilised. The submission deadline for tender offers is 15 November 2024, by 12:00 PM. The procurement method is an open procedure emphasising electronic submissions, with main addresses centred in the UK and a focus on services within the health sector (CPV codes 85000000 and 85111100). The total annual spend on these services is approximately GBP 130,000,000.00, and new applicants may join the framework quarterly.

This tender offers substantial growth opportunities for businesses specialising in healthcare services, particularly providers of mental health and learning disabilities services, and nursing care. Independent providers focused on targeted recruitment, training, and community benefits aligned with NHS Wales' objectives in social and economic development can find significant prospects here. Businesses adept at providing continuous staffing in care or dual diagnosis settings, either with or without nursing requirements, will find this framework advantageous. Organisations can leverage this framework to establish strong relationships with multiple local health boards and authorities across Wales, thereby expanding their market reach and contributing to community upliftment through various proposed social and environmental initiatives.
