Summary of the contracting process

The NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership, hosted by Velindre University NHS Trust, is overseeing a procurement process on behalf of Cardiff and Vale University Local Health Board. The tender is for "Estates Rationalisation & WEQAS Refurbishment - M&E Services" within the health industry category. The project, valued at £60,000, involves two main tasks: rationalising estates through internal departmental reorganisation at Woodlands House and the University Hospital of Wales, and a minor refurbishment of units at Ty Glas Industrial Estates for WEQAS. The procurement stage is currently at the tender phase, with the submission deadline set for 6 December 2024. The contract will be awarded on the same date, and electronic submissions are required via the specified eTender Wales platform.

This tender offers significant opportunities for businesses that specialise in mechanical and electrical engineering services, particularly those experienced in health sector infrastructure projects. Companies will need to demonstrate strong technical capabilities as the evaluation will weigh 60% on technical criteria and 40% on price. The project will demand efficient planning and execution to meet the contract requirements before the financial year end, making it an attractive prospect for firms looking to showcase their expertise and secure a foothold within the NHS contracting environment. This could open doors to future opportunities and long-term partnerships with the NHS and other public sector bodies.
