The procurement initiative is driven by the need to manage and process approximately 8,000 tonnes of sub 50mm glass fines annually, with the overall objective of maximising recovered glass content and avoiding landfill where possible. The Bryn Pica facility in Aberdare, which has invested significantly in waste management technologies, will serve as the main site for the project.

Firms with innovative approaches to waste management and processing, particularly those with experience in handling glass waste fractions, are well-suited to compete for this contract. Rhondda Cynon Taf CBC's emphasis on advanced waste sorting and recycling technologies means that businesses offering cutting-edge solutions and landfill avoidance strategies will find this an attractive opportunity for collaboration and service provision within the public sector.
