Summary of the contracting process

The Welsh Fisherman's Association Ltd - Cymdeithas Pysgotwyr Cymru Cyf is initiating a procurement planning stage for a unique service tender aimed at improving mental health and wellbeing for fishermen, fisherwomen, and their families in Wales. The project will run as a nine-month pilot ending by March 2026, focusing on activities such as mental health support services and community awareness campaigns. The industry category of this procurement falls under 'Health and social work services', with specific interests in Section C, Subcategory 4.2 of the Welsh Marine and Fisheries Scheme. The tender process is currently in the planning phase, with all project activities expected to span coastal locations across North, West, and South Wales, including areas like Swansea and Aberystwyth.

This tender represents significant opportunities for service providers within the healthcare and community outreach sectors, particularly those specialising in mental health, dental, and nutritional services. The project seeks providers who can offer one-to-one counselling, community events, mobile dental units, and physiotherapy support, among other services, to address critical health and wellbeing issues within the fishing community. Businesses with experience in stress management, suicide prevention, and partnerships with local NHS and third sector services will be well-suited to compete and could leverage this tender to expand their influence across Wales's coastal areas and drive growth in health service provision in regional communities.
