Notice Description

Menter y Plu is a community-led initiative in Llanystumdwy, Gwynedd, dedicated to preserving and revitalizing Tafarn y Plu a historic pub dating back to around 1816, the pub is Grade II listed.Since acquiring the pub, Menter y Plu has transformed it into a vibrant community hub. The pub now hosts various activities, including book clubs, darts teams, weekly tea and cake afternoons, IT groups, Welsh language classes, quiz, gigs etc...The pub now needs further investment to safeguard it's future and to expand the spaces available for community activity and dining.Plans for the development have been commissioned and developed to RIBA Stage 3 (plans available to view on Gwynedd Council Planning Portal). These have been the subject to consultation with the community and revised versions have been costed and discussed with planning and conservation officers. It is intended that these plans should form the basis of the work which this tender is intended to take forward.The intention is to complete the works by Spring/Summer 2026.The project comprises alterations and extensions to the existing pub building, with conversion and rejuvenation of the attached former stable buildings. The project will require careful, appropriate use of traditional materials on the existing building, meanwhile the extension is to be formed of prefabricated timber frame.A main contractor will be appointed via competitive tender, through a traditional procurement route using JCT ICD 2024 Intermediate Building Contract.
