It is a single bore tunnel located on the CAR (Cardiff - Rhymney) Line, spanning from 6m 6ch to 7m 14ch, with a length of 1784m and a twin track line passing through.Caerphilly tunnel was constructed between the years 1866-71, with 2 tunnel portals and 5 tunnel shafts. Historical records indicate there is a hidden shaft 'Shaft No.6' whose existence was confirmed by an investigation.AIW seek to procure a Subcontractor under and NEC4 Option A Subcontract to undertake the brickwork/masonry repair works throughout the extent of the tunnel, and design of water management solutions.
