Summary of the contracting process

The public procurement process was conducted by the NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership-Procurement Services, hosted by Velindre University NHS Trust, for the provision of consultant-led Electromyography and Peripheral Neurophysiology diagnostic services at the Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB) hospital sites, including Ysbyty Wrexham Maelor, Wrexham. This process involved a limited procurement method, specifically a direct award via the Healthtrust Europe framework without prior publication, in alignment with the Health Services (Provider Selection Regime) (Wales) Regulations 2025. The procurement falls under the "Health" industry category (CPV: 85121000) and the services were awarded to MEDICSPRO LTD, with the contract valued at GBP 125,625 signed on 19th December 2025. This procurement phase was completed as of 22nd December 2025.

This procurement opportunity is ideal for businesses specialising in health services, particularly those able to offer specialised diagnostic services. Companies with skilled clinicians experienced in Electromyography and Peripheral Neurophysiology, adhering to the standards of the British Society of Clinical Neurophysiologists (BSCN) and the Royal College of Physicians (RCP), are well-suited for similar future opportunities. The involvement of MEDICSPRO LTD, a small to medium-sized enterprise (SME), reflects the potential for SMEs to compete successfully in this sector. Providers capable of delivering high-quality services promptly could leverage such contracts for business expansion within the healthcare framework provided by NHS Wales.
