Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process described involves the NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership, hosted by Velindre University NHS Trust, seeking to set up a fully staffed and equipped endoscopy unit at Ysbyty Gwynedd. This tender falls under the healthcare industry category and addresses regions UKL11, UKL12, UKL13, and UKL23 within the UK. The procurement method is limited, following a direct award process without prior publication of a call for competition, as part of the Provider Selection Regime Wales (PSR Wales) regulations. The contract award process, initiated in May 2025, is currently in the award stage with a service period from 12th January 2026 to 31st March 2026.

This tender presents significant business growth opportunities, particularly for large clinical service providers with expertise in endoscopy. The successful bidder, Medinet Clinical Services Ltd, will operate a mobile endoscopy unit complete with a decontamination facility, necessitating a fully staffed endoscopy team. Providers with capabilities in collaboration, service sustainability, and value provision are valuable contenders for such contracts. The emphasis on quality, social responsibility, and reducing health inequalities further broadens the scope for businesses committed to enhancing healthcare delivery. Hence, firms ready to collaborate in delivering multidisciplinary medical services to North Wales could benefit greatly from this opportunity.
