Summary of the contracting process

The NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership - Procurement Services, hosted by Velindre University NHS Trust, has initiated an active tender process titled "Weight Management in North Ceredigion Cluster". This procurement falls under the health industry category and targets the North Ceredigion Cluster in the UKL14 region. The tender aims to commission a bespoke weight management service to help patients reduce obesity-related comorbidities, such as cardiovascular disease and diabetes. The procurement follows an open procedure and is currently in the tender stage, with key dates including a submission deadline of 19th March 2026 and an award start date on 23rd March 2026. The project is valued at £180,000 and has a contract duration of two years, with the possibility of a one-year extension.

This tender presents a significant opportunity for businesses specialising in health services, particularly those experienced in creating patient-centred weight management programmes. Companies with capabilities to deliver tailored exercise programmes, provide clinical dietician support, and collaborate with diabetic nurses may find this contract particularly lucrative. Given the focus on quality, which constitutes 70% of the award criteria, businesses known for high service quality and innovative health solutions stand a good chance at success. The open procedure promotes equal competition, providing a fair chance for both established and emerging health service providers to expand their market presence through this government procurement opportunity.
