Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process overseen by the NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership-Procurement Services, hosted by Velindre University NHS Trust, is focused on the provision of mental health supported housing and housing-related support services specifically within the health industry category. This service aims to aid adults with mental health needs in transitioning from inpatient care or higher-level placements to more stable community-based living arrangements across Cardiff, UK. Currently at the award stage, the contract is intended for a period of 18 months, starting from 1st April 2026 to 30th September 2027. The process follows a limited procurement method under the Provider Selection Regime Wales, marking the start of a standstill period which closes on 20th March 2026.

This tender is a noteworthy opportunity for businesses in the mental health support sector, especially those skilled in delivering person-centred and trauma-informed interventions. Cardiff Mind Ltd., a small to medium-sized enterprise, has been identified as a suitable provider for these services. The procurement does not involve a competitive bidding process, allowing existing providers to continue fostering their established relationships and expertise without the disruption of changing service users’ existing support systems. Businesses that excel in offering comprehensive housing-related support, risk and safety planning, and collaboration with mental health teams will find this tender beneficial for growth and sustaining impactful services within the community.
