To identify actions for local supply chain development, including scoping thepotential for an initiative for Wales, similar to the Association of Scottish HardwoodSawmillers (ASHS) , to benefit local businesses including farmers and smallwoodland owners, foresters, local sawmillers and furniture makers.* Undertake a desk top review of existing data and prepare gap analysis.* Compile availability and volumes of timber in Wales and the volumes sold annually.* List the active sawmills in Wales.* Assess the value-added operations of sawmills.* Map the flow of timber harvested in Wales by species through the supply* chain* Detail challenges of small mills* Assess the sawmill waste/by-product sales and assess the potential for higher value use* Explore the potential for setting up a Welsh equivalent of the Association* of Scottish Hardwood Sawmillers* Explore potential opportunities for development of the local timber supply* chain
