Notice Description

Wave Energy Scotland (WES) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Highland and Islands Enterprise and is taking an innovative approach to supporting the commercialisation of the wave energy sector until the technical and commercial risks are low enough for the private sector to re-enter the sector. This call was for Engineering Design Studies into Structural Materials and Manufacturing Processes, specifically on the construction of the WEC structure and prime mover and whether it is possible to make a step change impact in LCOE by constructing typical WEC devices from alternative materials. The call took the form of a three stage programme with applications limited to Stage 1 at this time. Proposals were invited for Engineering Design Study proposals relating to one of the following material categories: - Hybrid Structures using rotational moulding of polymers - Elastomers - Concretes - Other alternative materials
