Summary of the contracting process

The University of Aberdeen is currently engaged in a procurement process for the '13C Isotope Ratio Analysis Facility', aimed at enhancing its soil biogeochemistry laboratory. This tender falls within the education sector and is based in Aberdeen, Scotland (postal code AB24 3FX). The procurement method employed is an open procedure, and the tender period will close on 1 September 2016 at 12:00 PM. The resulting contract, once awarded, will involve the supply of two specialised analysers designed for measuring various gas concentrations and isotope ratios.

This opportunity is particularly well-suited for businesses involved in the scientific equipment sector, specifically those that manufacture or supply analytical technology for laboratories. Companies with capabilities in creating integrated systems for mobile and stationary applications may find this tender advantageous. Aspiring suppliers should ensure they meet the necessary standards and financial requirements as outlined in the selection criteria, making it essential for potential bidders to be prepared for a rigorous evaluation process.

Notice Title

13C Isotope Ratio Analysis Facility

Notice Description

The University of Aberdeen's soil biogeochemistry laboratory has purchased a 13C isotope-ratio analysis facility. The facility requires two analysers; one to be deployed in a standard University laboratory and the other in a mobile laboratory. The analysers should be capable of measuring concentrations of CO2 and CH4 and the d13C signatures of gases emitted from the surface of soils. In addition, they should be capable of measuring the 13C isotope ratios and total C concentrations of solid samples (soils, plants), liquids and small gas volumes. They should also be able to be fully integrated into commercially-available automated multiplexed soil gas chambers to permit measurement of isotope ratios in soil gases. One of the analysers must have capacity to be integrated into a mobile laboratory, which has limited bench space available (1.5m x 0.7m deep). One analyser should also have its own dedicated multiplexor to be able to analyse 16 channels in a closed loop.
