Summary of the contracting process

The City of Edinburgh Council is currently involved in the award process for the "BEMS Installation & Upgrade" contract within the works industry category. This procurement has been classified under an open procedure and is designated to enhance the Building Energy Management System (BEMS) across Edinburgh and the Lothians. The contract was officially awarded on 27th September 2017, and it involves a total estimated value of £2,500,000. The project aims to appoint a framework of up to six contractors who will be responsible for surveying sites, generating upgrade proposals, and implementing the necessary upgrades.

This tender represents a significant opportunity for businesses specialising in energy management solutions, building services, and control system integrations. Small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) as well as larger entities like SSE Energy Solutions may find this contract particularly appealing. Companies with expertise in BEMS technology and a strong portfolio in similar projects would be well-positioned to bid, potentially leading to long-term partnerships with the City of Edinburgh Council, as the framework allows for an extension of up to two additional years at the Council's discretion.
