Scottish Natural Heritage wishes to commission research into opportunities to deliver multiple benefits through the good design (including 'retrofitting'), and maintenance of green infrastructure associated with new and existing social housing in Scotland. The approach should include a review of current practice, multi-stakeholder engagement/facilitation and the use of systems analysis to identify barriers (social, cultural, regulatory, knowledge etc.) to best practice. The output will be a report that includes recommended action to support the delivery of more social housing that maximises the benefits of green infrastructure and ensures those benefits are sustained. These should be relevant to social housing providers (including local authorities, housing associations and housing cooperatives), housing authorities, policymakers and other public and private stakeholders that have a role in delivering social housing.
