Lot Information

Lot 1

All children and young people have a right to learn about their growing bodies, sexuality, relationships, sexual health and parenthood in ways appropriate to their learning styles, cognitive abilities and stage of maturity. Research evidence accumulated internationally has consistently shown that children and young people who are taught about these issues in school are more likely to delay the onset of sexual activity and are more likely to experience positive outcomes when they do enter into sexual relationships. In Scotland, it is expected that these core aspects of human experience are taught to all children and young people from age 3 to 18 years as part of the Relationships, Sexual Health and Parenthood (RSHP) organiser. The RSHP organiser is a key element of the broader Health and Wellbeing Curriculum area within Curriculum for Excellence. The RSHP organiser highlights the totality of experiences and outcomes that all children and young people should achieve throughout their time at school. The benchmarks for RSHP support professional judgement as well as clarity around coherent and progressive learning in this aspect of Health and Wellbeing.
