The proposal is for an independent research organisation (i.e. one that is not directly involved with the air quality network) to investigate the changing trend in the correction factors used for nitrogen dioxide PDT and the potential drivers and associated science that underpins the changes seen in the adjustments of the corrections factors. The study should examine both the local authority chemiluminescence monitoring data and PDT data (raw and corrected) to establish trends and identify reasons for the change in the bias correction factors and identify any other anomalies with the data collection process.
