Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process involves the buyer, Caledonian Maritime Assets Ltd (Utility), seeking to appoint a suitably experienced contractor for the "CMAL 0165 MATC Linkspan Refurbishment" project. This initiative is classified under the works category and is located on the West Coast of Scotland, particularly at several ferry terminals including Armadale, Tiree, Coll, and Mallaig. The procurement method used is a restricted procedure, currently at the Award stage. The contract, valued at approximately £2,737,981, was signed on 1st November 2018 and is actively engaged in the refurbishment of critical transport infrastructure.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses, especially those in the construction and engineering sectors that specialise in marine and civil engineering works. Companies capable of undertaking complex refurbishment tasks, including steel fabrication, hydraulic systems, and logistics of heavy machinery, would be well-suited to compete. Furthermore, engagement with local supply chains is encouraged, which could enhance community relations while also providing additional avenues for business growth within the region.
