Summary of the contracting process

The Seafish Industry Authority, located in Edinburgh, is managing the tender process for the "Seafish Responsible Fishing Scheme," which aims to certify high standards of crew welfare and responsible fishing practices. Currently in the Tender stage, this open procurement process seeks a not-for-profit service provider to operate and manage the scheme, with the tender period closing on 13th November 2017. The initiative falls within the fishing and seafood industry category, and interested parties may submit electronic responses through the Public Contracts Scotland portal.

This tender offers significant opportunities for businesses focused on services related to responsible fishing practices and crew welfare. Companies with experience in the fishing sector, particularly those that can demonstrate compliance with industry standards and qualifications relevant to service delivery, would be well-suited to compete. The contract’s long duration, planned for five years with a potential extension, presents a stable business opportunity for those able to meet the rigorous requirements outlined by Seafish.

Notice Title

Seafish Responsible Fishing Scheme

Notice Description

The Seafish Responsible Fishing Scheme (RFS) is a voluntary vessel-based programme certifying high standards of crew welfare and responsible catching practices on board fishing vessels. The RFS is a 'business-to-business' tool to help fishermen showcase industry-agreed best practice through independent, third-party auditing. The Seafish Industry Authority (Seafish) is seeking a Service Provider for the global operation, management and delivery of the Seafish Responsible Fishing Scheme. Seafish will remain as standard owner, but seeks a not-for-profit entity to deliver this contract.

Lot Information

Lot 1

This specification describes the Seafish Industry Authority's requirement for a bidder to tender for the global operation, management and delivery of the Seafish Responsible Fishing Scheme. Seafish will remain as standard owner, but seeks a not-for-profit entity to deliver this contract.

Renewal: Seafish sees the contract duration as significant in maintaining established global provision of the RFS. It is therefore planning to offer a contract for a minimum period of five-years, with the option to extend for one further period of five years, at Seafish's sole discretion. The extension to the contract will be reviewed at the end of year 4.
