Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process involves the Scottish Government, which is seeking a supplier for the "Scottish Material Brokerage Service Solution for Residual Waste Disposal." This service is categorised under general public services and focuses on waste management solutions, primarily in Glasgow, UK. The procurement is currently in the Award stage, with the contract having been signed on 28 September 2017. This service contract is aimed at handling residual municipal solid waste, with transparency requirements regarding material disposal destinations, initiated as a limited procurement method due to the lack of suitable previous tenders.

This opportunity can significantly benefit businesses in the waste management and environmental services sector, particularly those equipped to handle the transfer, transport, treatment, and disposal of municipal solid waste. Companies that have proven capabilities in meeting mandatory technical and quality criteria, alongside compliance with environmental regulations, would be particularly well-suited to compete for similar contracts. Engaging in such collaborative service contracts not only allows businesses to expand their operations but also positions them prominently within the public sector's waste management landscape, which has potential for further opportunities as local authorities look to enhance sustainability measures.
