Summary of the contracting process

Stirling Council has initiated a tender for the "Traffic, Cyclist and Pedestrian Monitoring System", aimed at developing a monitoring system to gather data on walking, cycling, and vehicular movements within the Stirling City area. This procurement process is currently in the Award stage, following an open procedure. The deadline for submissions was on 9th February 2018, with an estimated contract value of £180,000. The project is funded partly by the European Regional Development Fund as part of Scotland’s 8th City Programme and encompasses two lots: Lot 1 involves the supply and installation of pedestrian and cyclist counters, while Lot 2 focuses on the supply of journey time counters. The delivery will be required within the City of Stirling and its boundaries.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in transportation data solutions, technology installation, and environmental monitoring systems. Companies that can demonstrate experience in data collection hardware, supply chain management, and possess the necessary certifications in quality management and health and safety standards will be particularly well-positioned to compete. By bidding for either lot, suppliers can engage in a long-term contract that includes ongoing maintenance and support, adding a potential five-year relationship with the Stirling Council while contributing to improved transport decision-making within the community.
