Collection Packing, Decant, Temporary Storage and Return
Notice Description
The aim of this tender is to find and procure suppliers to assist with packing, carrying out the decant and subsequently returning the collection and associated material from the site at Blantyre, approximately 3000 items, with a wide variety of artefacts, to a secure fire and vandalism proof, environmentally stable or basic conservation heated, pest and vermin free area and returning the material. Collections packing, Decant, temporary Storage and Return have been divided into 4 areas of deliverables that we wish applicants to consider: 1. Preparation at the Museum site at Blantyre/packing collections 2. Decant and physical removal of material from Blantyre site to temporary storage facility 3. Provision of suitable storage facility (2000sq.ft (185sq.m) minimum) that is secure, clean and has heating to allow protection of objects and access and work practices of DLT staff, volunteers and other contractors as specified by DLT 4. Return of collection after building refurbishment

Preparation at the Museum site at Blantyre/packing collections
Packing the collection on site at Blantyre including provision/making of specialist crates and/or boxes for transport where required
Renewal: There may be options for the contract being extended dependent on capital project timescales.
Decant from the site and transport to storage areaDecant and physical removal of material from Blantyre site to temporary storage facility
Renewal: Dependent on timescale for the capital project.
Storage of the collection during building works, minimum 1 year including access for contractors and workings areas for DLT contractors, staff, volunteers and studentsProvision of suitable storage facility (2000 sq ft / 185 sq m minimum) that is secure, clean and hs heating to protect objects and access and work practices of David Livingstone Trust (DLT) contractors/staff, volunteers as specified by DLT
